‘Posthumous writer of the year’? This makes no sense. Are you suggesting that Bolano is some sort of a ghost or zombie that continues to write after his death? Or are you saying that Bolano is the best writer “around” that is currently dead, putting him on par with Shakespeare and Milton? Or do you mean what I think you mean, which is “writer of the year whose fame has come posthumously?” Clarify.
I’d take the third. While you’re at it, read Clara, also published in the New Yorker, which is linked to in that previous post about Bolaño. Phenomenal.
