Canada’s coming to the Coffeehouse.
Saturday, Oct. 3 will see Montreal band the Lovely Feathers dropping in to celebrate their new LP, Fantasy of the Lot. Accompanying them will be acclaimed newcomers the Rural Alberta Advantage (out of—you guessed it—Alberta), who also have a recent release to promote—debut album Hometowns. Four days after they hit the Coffeehouse, the two indie rock outfits will be playing the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, putting our campus venue in illustrious company.
The Lovely Feathers were one of my favorite bands after releasing their ultra-quirky debut Hind Hind Legs in 2006. They dropped off the face of earth (read: the Internet) after going on indefinite hiatus, but it’s thrilling to see them back in the game. And the RAA released one of the more exciting debut albums of the year; for proof, just listen to lead single “Don’t Haunt this Place.”
Here’s the video for the Lovely Feathers new single “Lowiza.”

a friend introduced me to The Rural Alberta Advantage earlier this year giving me a burned copy of Hometowns which he learned of and downloaded from e-music. its been a steady turner in my car cd deck, i’m amped to see this show. …and here is an argument for music sharing: i’ll be buying a cd and maybe even a t-shirt. ps duke coffee house is legit.
